Monument of the Holy Father John Paul II

Before the arrival of the Holy Father John Paul II, the Diocese was presented with a monument of the Holy Father John Paul II, made out of a huge oak trunk taken from the Sava River, the work of sculptors of the Ernestinovo Sculptor Colony – Mato Tijardović, Siniša Tešankić and Ivan Matković Lasta, weighing approximately 2.5 tonnes with a height of 2.5 metres. It is located in the courtyard of the Bishop’s Palace and depicts the Holy Father wearing the mitre and holding a cross in his hand.
