Customs and traditions

Over the course of Đakovo’s long history, which dates back to the 11th century, the town and its surroundings have had many different peoples living here. Wars have been waged, and occupation and constant turmoil have left consequences in political and in cultural terms.

The intermingling of different peoples and their cultures has enriched the cultural tradition of the locals, making it unique and recognizable, and the townsfolk of Đakovo have preserved their cultural heritage by passing it on from one generation to the next.
