Welcome to Đakovo, the heart of Slavonia! The town of Đakovo is nestled in a plain in the central and most beautiful part of Slavonia, at an altitude of 111 m.a.s.l. From whichever side you approach the town, the first thing you will see are the two towers and dome of the most beautiful cathedral in this part of the world, from Venice to Istanbul. There is hardly any traveller who has not heard of St. Peter’s cathedral, the life project of Bishop Strossmayer.
Although a small town, it is a major element of Croatian culture of the 19th century, offering any visitor an abundance of historical, cultural and natural riches.
It is an ideal destination if one is looking for some rest and relaxation, because it offers a perfect combination of cultural and natural sites, and apart from that, the famous Slavonian hospitality, local cuisine and excellent wines are just additional reasons why you should visit this town.
