The Sinking head memorial was erected on the site of the mass grave of the former Parokovo livada/Župna livada and is dedicated to the victims of communism in Đakovo and Đakovo region, who died after the 17th entry of partisans into Đakovo. It was installed behind the church of All Saints in 2009.
"Sinking head" is the work of academic sculptor Antun Babić from Vinkovci. The appearance of the monument was left to the free expression of the author, who was inspired by the testimonies of those terrible events in 1945. Such a feeling that the victims sink into the ground or come out of it as a memorial to them, and completely avoiding naturalistic description, the author tried to express with his expressive sculptural means.
The sculpture is cast in bronze, 40 cm high and 50 x 50 cm base, on which the text is engraved in classic capital letters. In fact, it is a memorial because it marks the execution ground and mass grave from the Second World War - the authentic execution ground of innocent victims, soldiers and civilians, most of them from Đakovo. The time and value of this monument is even greater and more significant, not only artistically but also historically.
