About me: Uh… Writing about yourself is hard. In short, I am a master of fine arts, a graphic artist, a black and white world and a visual arts enthusiast, mostly a Julije Knifer fan.
In full, I was born on 6 May 1990 in the beautiful town of Đakovo. I completed the undergraduate study programme in Fine Arts Education at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek. My hard work and dedication led to receiving the Dean’s Award for achievements in artistic work and academic achievements (which I am extremely proud of).
For my graduate studies, I chose the Graphic Arts Department at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, under Professor Mario Čaušić. Or maybe the graphic arts chose me, I do not know. During the graduate studies, I spiced things up by spending one semester at the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts in Pécs on Erasmus. Pécs gave me a chance to perfect my artistic skills and graphic arts techniques, study Hungarian tradition and culture and make new friends. I graduated Fine Arts Education in 2015, module Graphic Arts, under the mentorship of Stanislav Marijanović, Assistant Professor of Arts, a great professor and a famous illustrator and graphic artist. That is it about my most beautiful student days.
I am currently working as an art teacher in several schools and I really love my job. Through my professional and creative work, I try to develop creative potential among children. I do my best to make classes interesting and adjust them to students, taking care that the classroom atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, and creating an environment that allows children to express themselves happily and freely through art.
In my spare time, I do everything related to art as an attitude towards life. I draw a lot, both for myself and for clients. I have illustrated books such as “Rat smijehom”, “Istraživanje baštine u Muzeju Đakovštine – Vodič za djecu”, “Narodne pripovijetke iz okolice Đakova”. I also participate in the Children’s Pageant at the Đakovo Embroidery Festival as the president of the art competition. I do photography, go to exhibitions, organise art workshops for children and adults, prepare future students for the Academy and so on.
Since last year, I have been a part of becharusha, a duo formed with my friend and work colleague Maja Nikačević. Becharusha is first a product of friendship and then everything else. We have combined the things in which we complement each other perfectly – love for art and love for traditional heritage. The other day, someone on Instagram called us guardians of tradition – hm... Yes, we have been trying to save traditional heritage from oblivion, revive it in a completely new form and bring it closer to younger generations.
When I get fed up with art, when my hands hurt, I go for a walk in nature (especially on Borovik), have an easy ride or spend some time in good company, which charges my batteries for new visual explorations.
The motto from the beginning – Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life – is actually a perfect description of everything I wrote here... Because sometimes I really do not know if what I do is my job or my hobby.
