Marta Džaja

Motto: Nulla dies sine linea./Take a deep breath.

Interests: languages, teaching, art, creative writing, acting, event management, independent culture, travelling, gardening, sustainable development.

About me: I was born in 1994. In the 27 years of my life, I have found a lot of things I enjoy, so all my biographical sketches look like a patchwork. I have a master’s degree in the Russian language and literature and sociology. I am currently working at my own, recently opened educational business called “M.art”. Before that, I used to work as a Russian teacher in Zadar, a sociology teacher in Đakovo and a demonstrator for art courses at the Department of Psychology of the University of Zadar. I am the president of ARLA (Organisation for Promoting Urban Culture) and a member of several other associations in Croatia. I studied in Zadar, Brno and Moscow. I have lived everywhere, from Strizivojna, the Czech Republic and Russia to the USA.

I love to be active, travel, take conventions lightly, read, act, grow and eat plants, study and teach (languages), dance, explore, work the land, skateboard, watch the moon and go for endless walks in the forest. At the moment, I am working on my first manuscript because after all, I like writing the most. You can find my poetry in journals Zadarska Smotra, Nova Istra, Poezija, Tema, web portals Strane, Čovjek-časopis, nomad.ba and anthologies Tragovi u snijegu: Sjeme za budućnost and Susret riječi. Nothing makes me happier than my tiny piece of land in Pisak, with my small mobile home under walnut trees and my garden full of sweet tomatoes in the summer.
