About me: After graduating in history of art and sociology in Zadar, I returned to Đakovo, where I completed professional training at the Museum of Đakovo Region and became a curator. In 2016, I started working at the Vocational Secondary School in Đakovo, where I taught cultural and historical heritage and aesthetics and art. Afterwards, I started working at three other schools – 2nd Secondary School in Beli Manastir and A. G. Matoš Grammar School and Braća Radić School of Economics in Đakovo, where I taught sociology and art.
In 2018, I restarted the former Youth Association with a few like-minded people, but this time under a new name – ARLA (Organisation for Promoting Urban Culture). The organisation is engaged in the area of art and culture, literature, human rights, environmental protection and organisation of music festivals and concerts, and I was also its president. Over the years, ARLA has organised numerous interesting events in collaboration with Đakovo, Đakovo Town Library and Reading Room, Tourist Board of the Town of Đakovo, Vocational Secondary School, Đakovo Culture Centre, etc. The organisation also holds the traditional ARLA summer festival every year in Strossmayer Park, “Kalorifer” winter festival and also organises a number of workshops, training programmes, lectures, travelogues, exhibitions, music shows, author promotions, seed swaps, picnics for children and many other activities over the year. One of ARLA’s objectives was to move events away from usual locations in the town, so we organised events on Bajer (djembe playing workshop with RitmOs, Jamm Session, etc.), in the small park (Afro Arla) or in Zokovica forest near Pisak, where we organised the “5Ritmova” workshop and the “RestArt” outdoor festival.
Since 2019, I have been the Osijek-Baranja County coordinator of the national tree planting campaign launched by the “Plant a tree, don’t be a stump!” association for protecting nature and environment. In the first year of the campaign, in cooperation with the Town of Đakovo, secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens, over 300 trees were planted in and around Đakovo. The association aims to limit global warming, support the revitalisation of urban green spaces and provide web space for developing the right attitude and raising awareness among all stakeholders and the general population.
In the future, I see myself living in the country, building a life with my family on our small piece of heaven, actively engaged in permaculture, biodynamic agriculture, raising awareness of environmental protection and acquiring knowledge and skills to apply in my own garden. Because owning a garden is the greatest act of activism that creates a better world. My wish is to combine my love for plants, trees and all nature with the work I do as a high school teacher in the sense of extra-institutional education. I will continue cultivating my love for DIY projects in the future. Furniture restoration and recycled art is something I find particularly enjoyable. I have many plans for the future, but, as they say, better not to talk about them because they might not come true. So, I will keep quiet...
