About me: I was born in a family of a PE teacher. More precisely, my grandfather was a primary school teacher in Đakovo, while my mother worked in Strizivojna her whole life. Since I have been surrounded with sports ever since I was little, I have always known that I would pursue a career in sports.
I started with gymnastics, followed by volleyball and swimming. After completing general grammar school in Đakovo, I went to the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Zagreb and graduated in 2011. After college, I returned to Đakovo. I worked in several schools, taught gymnastics, volleyball and Pilates and also joined the Đakovo Mountaineering Club, where I discovered sport climbing. I currently work as a PE teacher at the J. A. Ćolnić Primary School.
My journey has always been about encouraging people around me to do more sports and to be more active in general. Driven by that philosophy, in 2018, I started the Đakovo Christmas Race, which could even be called traditional at this point. I have also revived the project called “Kretanjem zdravlje”, which my grandfather used to run a long time ago. Its aim is to encourage citizens to be as active as possible every day by engaging in different activities, such as walking or cycling. I am truly happy to see people of all ages taking part in activities that I organise, because I believe that sports can only improve our daily lives.
Besides encouraging people to be more active, I also try to contribute to the community by volunteering for the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, where I also passed the mountain rescuer test. I hope my contribution to the active lifestyle in Đakovo will be at least half as significant as my late grandfather’s, whom everyone still remembers fondly, and that people will not get tired of me “forcing” them to run and participate in local race.
